Early on Saturday morning, the national Darkness into Light fundraising day for Pieta House, Bruckless National School came alive from 4:00am. Meeting at the school in darkness approximately 50 people left the school at 4:15 for the walk. A nice loop walk around the locality brought us back to the school for some warm drinks and light refreshments. The walk was well supported by staff, students, families and the local community. A donation box in the school after increased the funds raised by the school to almost €800.
Massive thanks to everyone who supported the walk by helping marshal, baking and helping with the tea and coffees afterwards, preparing and tidying the school after and especially to those who sent in donations to the school throughout the week.
This walk will be the first step in the school starting our journey for the Amber Flag where the school will be rewarded for promoting an inclusive environment, supporting mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
