Trip to the Bog, Oct. ’24

We enjoyed a wonderful day exploring, surverying and assessing a local bog.

Michéal from Heritage Ireland visited the school and explained all about bog formation and the important and active role they play in the world and nature.

We then visited a local bog where we explored and searched for native and invasive plants and fauna. Our results help us assess the health of the bog. We even found a frog, much to delight of the pupils.

Who knew a bog could be so exciting and interesting and no cutting, footing, spreading, turning, bagging but then no tae or tayto crisps either!!
