Our school was fortunate to be selected to be part of the Creative February programme.
It was an honour to be chosen, as one of only three schools in the county, to exhibit our artistic creations around some of the Donegal libraries. This was part of Creative February, Make Your Mark, an Arts Council initiative.
We chose a prominent and well known local landmark, St. John’s Point Lighthouse, in the abstract style of Northern Irish artist, Adrian Margey. Adrian delivered an art lesson in his style with us last year. This was a great opportunity to apply our skills to a local icon.
We then created a 3D version of the lighthouse with clay. It was a great experience to combine the two art forms with the one location and to work individually and as groups.
Our pieces were displayed in Bunbeg and Letterkenny Central libraries. We attended a function in Letterkenny Library along with some very important art people. We enjoyed lovely sandwiches, delicious treats and a beautiful Creative February gift bag.
It was an amazing opportunity for us all to display our art publicly and something that we will always remember. It was a proud moment for us all.
